SDGs education is often framed as institutional targets or planetary visions, sidelining learners’present experiences and value choices. This study examines a Japanese course at a Taiwanese university using an embodied–dialogic design: BODY SCALE and facilitated dialogue with Japanese board-writing. Data (photos, board notes, transcripts) were analyzed qualitatively. Learners expressed (a) discomfort and powerlessness tied to implicit responsibility shifting, (b) resistance to demands for“special”creativity over everyday insights, and (c) a disconnect between future-oriented SDGs discourse and the here-and-now. We propose a triple-gap model: ideals vs lived experience, expected roles vs real capacities, and future narratives vs present realities. SDGs internalization requires embodied-dialogic spaces that hold contradictions and emotions and support re-authoring“one’s own SDGs”. |
