The study was based on the diversity of the students' English learning achievements among Hsinchu County and other local areas. It investigated that the weakness of the students' subject concept and cognition, and then proposed teaching suggestions. The data from School Year 97 to 99 were provided by You Chen Publishing co. , ltd. According to the Basic Competence Mock Test for Junior High School Students, it showed the diversity of the students' English learning achievements among Hsinchu County and other local areas. The result found that wholly the students' performance in Hsinchu County was not better than in other local areas. Students in Hsinchu County read through the illustration. The performance of the cognitive dimension was still worse, and that students' achievement performance on “Memory” displayed the disseminated situation. Furthermore, the performance on “Individual Subject Concept” was even poor. By the weakness analysis, the topics about “Idiom” and “Vocabulary” should be reinforced. The suggestions were focused on reading teaching. Through reading teaching, it may promote the student's grammar or word learning ability. |
