|Many language learners aim to communicate in their target language. However, to speak effectively, it's essential first to accurately understand what the other person is saying. This study aims to identify the anxieties faced by advanced Japanese learners in Taiwan when listening Japanese outside of class, to inform lesson planning. Therefore, interviews using PAC analysis were conducted with four Japanese language majors. The analysis revealed common anxieties such as“understanding honorific language”,“the speed is too fast”,“vocabulary”and“grammar and usage”. Furthermore, concerns were raised regarding anxiety factors such as insufficient understanding or knowledge of Japanese culture, as well as emotional anxiety factors. Additionally, students with study-abroad experience listed more detailed anxieties, while those without exhibited greater individual variation. Insights from this study are expected to aid syllabus design for LC courses. |
