Microplastics are small plastic fragments which are broken down from plastics that are less than 5 mm in length. Microplastics can enter human body by using plastic products, diet or through the food chain, however, it needs more researches to prove the relation with human health. There are 50 samples collected in this study for understanding the content of microplastic. The results showed 21 plastic containers released microplastics and the average amount was 2.9 particles (PAs)/100 mL at 25℃. After being immersed into hot water (95℃), microplastics were released from all teabags and coffee bags, and the average amount was 120.4 PAs /200 mL. Treating the plastic heat-resistant bag with hot water (95℃) did not detect microplastic. The average number of microplastics were detected in 29 polyethylene terephthalate (PET) bottled water samples is 30.8 particles/L, and the materials of the microplastics were PET and polypropylene (PP). This study showed that the number of microplastics releasing from food containers and packaging are similar to international's study. |
