"The purpose of this study is to explore the effect of social skills training program on students with mild mental retardation in higher vocational colleges. The purpose of this study is to find out whether there is immediate and continuous effect of social skills training program on students with mild mental retardation in higher vocational colleges. The method of quasi-experimental research was adopted. The subjects of the study were 26 students with mild mental retardation in the second and third grades of higher vocational education department in Jiangmen Special Education School. The experimental group included 13 students in the third grade of higher vocational education department, and the control group included 13 students in the second grade of higher vocational education department. The social skills training program for the study was divided into five modules, which were ""dealing with strangers"", ""getting along with elders"", ""dealing with the opposite sex"", ""dealing with embarrassment"" and ""maintaining friendship"". The results show that the social skills training program has an immediate effect on the skills of ""contacting with strangers"", ""getting along with elders"", ""interacting with the opposite sex"", ""dealing with embarrassment"" and ""maintaining friendship"" of the students with mild mental retardation in higher vocational colleges, and has good maintenance effect." |
