Defense policy is part of public policy and its success or failure is vital to national defense and can directly affect the survival, the security and interests of a nation, which are the fundamentals of national development, social stability and people's livelihood. Since R.O.C. held its first direct presidential election, there have been three party alterations, two of the successors, President Chen Shui-bian and President Tsai Ing-wen, are from the DPP. This study focuses on comprehending the content of both administrations' defense policy while considering international situation, cross-strait relations and domestic situation in order to probe the continuation and revolution of defense policy during DPP's rule and offer personal observation and future policy suggestions. |
