The speech consists of five parts. The first part analyzes the significance of the Indigenous movements, including the awakening of the aboriginal consciousness, building up a life community, enhancing the self-worth of the aborigines, challenging and questioning the legitimacy of the ruling party. The second part explains the social background of the Indigenous movements. The third part reviews the dilemmas and challenges of the Indigenous movements. The fourth part examines the major issues of the aboriginal movement in the past three decades. Finally, the speaker points out that the challenges of the Indigenous movements are insufficient endurance, weak arguments, and a lack of training for the leaders of next generation. The speaker also points out that the issues of Indigenous land and autonomy are still the main axes of future Indigenous social movements. It is therefore necessary to strengthen the discussion of the aboriginal movement, and to connect the non-government organizations, grassroots movements, the church groups that pursue social justice, and the international Indigenous organizations, so that the ideals and aspirations of Indigenous movements may be realized. |
