The major purpose of this paper is to review the basic concept of portfolio and interpret its implications to distance education learner support system. First,this paper addresses that a "portfolio" featured learner's inner active construction is viewed as both a qualitative assessment instrument and a method to facilitate adult learning in distance education. Second,in the dawn of web-based learning,distance education learner interactions have become more easier than before and therefore,a web-based portfolio system can be perceived as a new type of experience sharing and knowledge management mechanism in distance education. Finally,with the "Competing Values AnaIysis"(CVA),this paper aims to propose a portfolio-oriented learner support system conceptual model and hope that the distance education learner support system can develop diversely and properly in the learning society. |
