This study focuses on Chinese Taipei’s gold medalist in the men’s K44-58kg category at the 2025 World Taekwondo President’s Cup Asia Region (Para), and applies video event recording methods to analyze offensive and defensive performance data. Gold medalist previously won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games and has achieved outstanding results in multiple international competitions, ranking fourth in the world. In this tournament, he secured the gold medal with four consecutive victories, earning an additional 30 ranking points. Statistical results show a total of 94 points scored, averaging 10.44 points per round, and 28 points conceded, averaging 3.11 points per round, with a score-to-loss ratio of 3.36, indicating a significant competitive advantage. In terms of attack patterns, gold medalist primarily adopted offensive strategies (79.49%), with the left front kick being the most effective scoring technique, consistent with current taekwondo competition trends. Technical analysis revealed that roundhouse kicks were the main scoring technique (61.70%), followed by points gained from opponent penalties and cut kicks. Conversely, roundhouse kicks also accounted for the highest proportion of points lost (42.85%), suggesting that while they are the primary scoring method, they also pose a risk of conceding points. Throughout the matches, gold medalist effectively pressured opponents through aggressive attacks, forcing frequent fouls that became an important source of scoring. This study provides empirical data on offensive and defensive performance in Para Taekwondo, offering valuable references for coaches and athletes in developing training programs and tactical strategies, and contributing to enhancing Chinese Taipei’s competitiveness in the 2026 Asian Para Games and the 2028 Paralympic Games.
