Primary and secondary school principals need a professional support system to enhance the positive impact of school management and leadership, assist in the professional development of principals, and keep them updated with the qualities required for the position. At present, there are several types of principal professional support systems currently in operation in Taiwan. This study focuses on the “Implementation and development Project of the Professional Support System for Primary and Secondary School Principals [PPSS],” carried out by the Secondary and Elementary School Principal Association, ROC (SESPA) as research target. Using a questionnaire survey, the study collected responds from principals nationwide to understand their views on this PPSS. A total 1,611 questionnaires were retrieved. The conclusions of this study are: 1. Respondents had a high overall level of participation in the “Implementation and Development Project for the PPSS”; 2. The sub plans of the “Implementation and Development Project for the PPSS” all had good results; 3. The “Implementation and Development Project for the Professional Support System for Elementary and Junior High School Principals” can be further adjusted based on the feedback provided by the respondents. Finally, this study proposed two suggestions for subsequent improvement of the PPSS as reference for enhancing principals’ professional competencies and strengthening the effectiveness of school management. |
