The pancreatobiliary intervention team at Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital is committed to improving the quality and safety of endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and cultivating specialized talent. As a high-risk and technically demanding procedure, ERCP requires skilled operators and institutional support. Although many hospitals in Taiwan face critical shortages in qualified personnel, Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital has transformed this challenge into an opportunity through a structured training system aligned with international standards. Numerous attending physicians have been successfully trained to independently perform ERCP, several of whom have been dispatched to regional and district hospitals to provide high-quality, localized care to patients across the Kaohsiung–Pingtung region. In 2024, the intervention team’s efforts to optimize workflows and outcome monitoring received the National Healthcare Quality Award for Outstanding Team Performance. This training system initiative demonstrates how systematic talent development can sustain excellence, serving as a model for pancreatobiliary care nationwide.
