The communication industry is evolving rapidly, yet its limited transparency often leaves students with traditional and stereotypical understandings of the field. As the skills required for employment increasingly transcend single academic disciplines, bridging the gap between education and industry has become a pressing challenge. In response, several higher education institutions have introduced cross-media communication practicum courses that integrate real-world industry projects into the classroom and emphasize collaboration between faculty and industry professionals to enhance students’practical competence and innovative thinking. This study adopted a mixed-methods evaluation research design to evaluate learning outcomes, with participants drawn from students enrolled in a cross-media communication practicum course. Grounded in the principles of action research aimed at improving educational practice, the study employed a systematic approach to assess students’career suitability and learning effectiveness. The Career Personality Aptitude System (CPAS) was employed as both an assessment and counseling tool, combined with a competency-based learning map strategy, to analyze students’learning outcomes. Data were collected from the academic year 111–112, focusing on students’career aptitude needs, developmental differences, and performance in projects and competitions. Through both qualitative and quantitative analyses, the study identifies the benefits, challenges, and enhancement strategies related to instructional design and career guidance in communication practice courses. The findings provide insights for optimizing curriculum mapping and innovating industry-oriented pedagogy, offering a valuable reference for higher education institutions seeking to develop effective communication practice programs. |
