The connection of with the Wang Yang-ming’s school and the Confucianists' classics, I'm afraid that exceeds what Yang-ming behaved and imagined in Ming Dynasty, which has been noted recently by modern scholars. Taking Yang-ming as an example, his doctrine could not be set up or spread without old edition of The Great Learning. Even the disciples have one’s own views on the innate knowledge, the most follow Yang-ming’s statement–adopting old edition of The Great Learning. Only Jiben who followed Yang-ming in early years changed the content by himself, what puzzles us that Jiben regarded publicizing the teacher's doctrine as his own ambition by writing a large number of books which annotating the Confucianists' classics. Though he often criticized the opinion of Zhu-xi, his thoughts was influenced by Zhu’s unconsciously. This essay would explore the contents and meaning of this book, and observe how Ji’s thoughts vacillating between Zhu’s and Wang’s doctrine. According to these discussions to research into the causes of Jiben changing the contents of old edition of The Great Learning , and present the relation of the Confucianists' classics and Wang Yang-ming’ school concretely. |
