Higher education institutions have prioritized the establishment of learning assessment policies to guide practices and ensure educational quality. This study focuses on the top ten universities in the QS 2025 World University Rankings, collecting relevant documents on learning assessment policies from their official websites and conducting content analysis to understand the aspects included in these policies. This study found that the assessment policies of the ten universities share six common points: 1. They all consider the principles of alignment, transparency, and authenticity in assessment; 2. They emphasize both formative and summative assessment purposes; 3. The assessment content includes knowledge, skills, and attitudes; 4. They adopt criterion-referenced assessments; 5. They incorporate both objective tests and alternative assessments; 6. Attendance and class participation are not included as assessment criteria; 7. There is no guidance on how to assess aspects of attitude. Differences include: 1. Only one university references self-assessment, whereas three mention peer assessment; 2. Six universities use a letter grading system, while four use a percentage system. Overall, the assessment policies of these ten universities align with contemporary assessment concepts and trends, although some issues remain to be explored. |
