The impact of isolated, confined, and extreme environments (ICE) on sports participation involves multifaceted psychological adaptation and behavioral performance, including individual resilience, interpersonal interactions, and team dynamics. This study systematically reviews and synthesizes relevant literature to explore the potential applications of research on isolated, confined, and extreme environments in the context of sports. This study identifies positive emotional stability, problem-focused coping strategies, and post-stress growth among participants in ICE. These characteristics significantly enhance adaptability and task performance. Moreover, ICE provides a unique context for studying high-pressure scenarios, offering insights into psychological resilience and team efficiency mechanisms. The paper explores diverse research methodologies, such as quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, and archival analysis, recommending the integration of linguistic tools (e.g., LIWC) to capture subtle psychological changes. Findings highlight that sports participation in ICE not only challenges individual limits but also fosters psychological growth and adaptability, providing theoretical and methodological support for sports psychology and practical applications. This research expands the understanding of sports in extreme environments and lays a foundation for future studies and the development of scientific support systems. |
