According to the fate and the characters of bagua in I Ching, this study utilized adult learners’personality traits as independent variables and four career plans (linear, expert, spiral, and transformational patterns proposed by Driver et al. and Llewellyn) as the dependent variables. It then employed the literature review method to synthesize and compile a Questionnaire on the Current Status of I Ching Hexagram Personality Traits and Career Planning for Adult Learners and conducted a survey sampling among on-the-job learners at the Open University of Kaohsiung. In total, 800 samples were selected, and 715 valid questionnaires were collected for a valid recovery rate of 89%. After conducting descriptive statistics, t-tests, one-way analysis of variance, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation model, the results indicate that adult learners with different backgrounds and personality traits have different career planning patterns. The inspiration and recommendations of this study are that adult education institutions should conduct adaptive personality analyses on students. After understanding their career planning needs, the direction and content of curriculum teaching designs can be determined, which effectively assist adult learners in cultivating professional functions and career planning for their adaptive needs. |
