This study investigates the research trends in international sport pedagogy from 2013 to 2023 by analyzing 2,172 articles from seven SSCI/SCIE-indexed journals in the field, retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection. Employing text mining techniques, complemented by expert opinion and trend analysis, this research identifies both ''hotspots'' and ''prospective '' research topics. The findings reveal a flourishing landscape of international sport pedagogy research over the past decade, with the United States as the leading contributor. Thematically, the research demonstrates a diversification of interests, encompassing physical literacy, physical education instruction, teacher professional development, teacher education, and adapted physical education, among others. Notably, ''physical literacy,'' ''physical education instruction,'' and ''physical education teacher professional development'' constitute the three most prevalent hotspots topics in recent years. Furthermore, ''physical education instruction,'' ''physical education teacher education,'' and ''physical literacy'' are identified as the three major prospective research topics. Within these broader topics, specific areas of interest include transformative considerations in physical education instruction, the trend of privatization in school physical education, shifts in teacher professional development, the role of physical education teachers in adapted physical education, the development of definitions and measurement scales for physical literacy, and the supply and demand dynamics in physical education teacher education. Through a comprehensive decadal perspective, this study offers insights into the current state and future trajectory of sport pedagogy, laying a foundation for subsequent research and practical applications. It also aims to guide researchers and practitioners in maintaining a focus on the evolving landscape of sport pedagogy. |
