Cultural similarities between Vietnam and Taiwan are an objective reality. Originating from similar geographical conditions, both cultures are imbued with the identities of communities of South Asian and Malay Islands origin. The two indigenous cultures of Vietnam and Taiwan were both formed on the basis of the continuous, successive development of cultures originating from the middle and late Neolithic periods. After the period of indigenous culture, the two cultures of Vietnam and Taiwan were continuously supplemented with many new values, through interference with ethnic groups with the same Southeast Asian background, so the similarities between the two cultures are also renewed. The introduction of Han culture into Vietnam and Taiwan through different periods also led to the meeting of Han values between the two cultures. The common denominators of Vietnamese and Taiwanese culture are: wet rice agriculture, tattooing, betel and areca chewing, ancestor worship, traditional ceremonies, funerals, and folk games, Buddhism, Confucianism, traditional Chinese characters, Taoism... Besides, there are also similarities in language between people of South Asian and Malay Islands origin in Vietnam and people of these same origins in Taiwan. |
