This paper first focuses on the 150 character entries in the ''Bamboo'' section of Shuowen Jiezi. By examining Xu Shen's explanations of these characters and Duan Yucai's annotations, it aims to understand the ''Six Categories'' attributes of the character entries in the ''Bamboo'' section. Next, the 150 character entries are divided into eight categories to glimpse the semantic constructs of the ''Bamboo'' section characters. Furthermore, using ancient lexical tools such as Erya and Guangyun, along with relevant literary resources, the study deeply investigates and interprets the character entries related to musical instruments in the ''Bamboo'' section. It also seeks to identify bamboo-related characters not included in Shuowen Jiezi and analyze their forms to comprehensively observe bamboo tube musical instruments in relation to Shuowen Jiezi. Through the aforementioned classification, related classical texts, and explanations from Shuowen Jiezi, the study examines and interprets the forms and functions of the sixteen types of bamboo tube musical instruments categorized from the ''Bamboo'' section to understand their uses. |
