從美國駐俄使館微卷檔案（Despaches from United States Ministers to Russia）來看中國東北的門戶開放問題（1897-1900）

The Open Door Policy concerning Manchuria, 1897-1900, Viewed from Despaches from United States Ministers to Russia

本文以華盛頓國家檔案館館藏之美國駐俄使館微卷檔案（Despaches from United States Ministers to Russia, 1808-1906）做為原始史料、並輔以美國駐華使館微卷檔案（Despatches from United Ministers to China, 1843-1906）、當時美國報紙新聞、若干中國檔案，再研究海內外史家的相關著作，嘗試從新的角度詮釋美俄1897-1900年涉及中國東北的關係。第一節說明研究問題，並扼要回顧中外相關之學術著作，且闡明美國在東北政治、商業利益；第二節分析美國與中東鐵路關係、美俄貸款；第三節剖析美國對俄國租借旅大的反應以及檢視海約翰兩次門戶開放照會；第四節作為結論，總結前述各節內容，嘗試對研究問題做出歷史詮釋。

Based chiefly on Despaches from United States Ministers to Russia, 1808-1906（microfilmed）, National Archives, Washington DC, along with Despatches from United States Ministers to China, 1843-1906（microfilmed）, contemporary American newspapers, some Chinese documents, and related research works, this paper attempts to interpret American-Russo relations in Manchuria, 1897-1900, from new perspectives. The first section introduces the questions to be researched and related works and surveys American political and commercial interests in Manchuria; the second section analyzes American connection to the Manchurian Railway and touches on America’s loan to Russia; the third section examines how the United States responded to the Russian lease of Port Arthur and Dalian and John Hay’s two Open Door Notes; the last section endeavors to offer a historical interpretation by summarizing the content of the previous sections.
