The higher education institutions (HEIs) play a crucial role in promoting sustainability, whether through education, research, operations, community partnerships, or other aspects. HEIs, which include colleges, universities, technical institutions, and community colleges, serve as trusted organizations and, like small societies, integrate sustainable practices into their communities. They inspire students, faculty, and visitors to make positive changes. Universities can achieve these goals through various methods, often involving both top-down and bottom-up approaches. Sustainable universities empower future generations by fostering new practices and providing the capacity to create and influence change. This study examines the campus sustainability actions of seven European sustainable universities, offering insights into their practical approaches and distinctive features for sustainable governance, which can serve as reference models for universities in Taiwan. |
