In recent years, environmental education issues have received increasing attention. Since the implementation of the Twelve-Year Basic Education Program, new curriculum guidelines and textbooks have been developed successively, with increasing emphasis on how to present environmental education issues in textbooks. This study aims to explore the integration of environmental education issues in the Earth Science textbooks for senior high schools under the Twelve-Year Basic Education Program. The study focuses on the Hanlin version of the high school Earth Science textbooks and utilizes the 'Environmental Education Issues' compilation tool from the Twelve-Year Basic Education Program guidelines. The research employs content analysis and focus group methods. The findings of the study are as follows: 1.The Hanlin version of high school Earth Science textbooks covers ' disaster prevention and relief ' and ' climate change ' the most. 2.The Hanlin version of high school Earth Science textbooks contains more connections to prior knowledge and past experiences in environmental education, while coverage of new environmental education learning topics is relatively less. 3.Among the six units in the Hanlin version of high school Earth Science textbooks, five units cover environmental education issues, indicating a high coverage rate. Finally, the study provides relevant teaching suggestions for teachers based on the research findings. Furthermore, it suggests expanding the research scope and stages to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the integration of environmental education issues in the Twelve-Year Basic Education Program curriculum textbooks.'' |
