本稿は台湾の科技大学の応用英語学科と応用日本語学科の学生を対象として、異文化センシティビティ(感受性)を理解することを目的としている。 記述統計の結果から、日本語専攻の学生は、異文化の感受性や異文化体験から得られるものを英語専攻の学生よりも高いスコアを持っていることを明らかにした。これは、日本語専攻の学生は2 つの外国語を学習していることと関連があると考えられる。さらに、カイ二乗、t 検定、ANOVA の結果からは、日本語専攻と英語専攻の学生の違いところを明らかにした。本研究の成果は今後の外国語の習得や教学に有益な示唆を与えるものと考えられる。 The purposes of this study aim to investigate the Intercultural sensitivity (IS) of Japanese Majors and English Majors from five Technological Universities and their discrepancy on IS, using a 24-item Intercultural Sensitivity Scale formulated by Chen & Starosta (2000). Results from descriptive statistics demonstrated Japanese Majors had higher scores than English majors on Respect for cultural differences and Interaction Enjoyment. The possible reasons for this difference would be because most Japanese majors had acquired more than two foreign languages, passed English exit exam, and planned to study abroad, compared to English majors. Results from Chi-square, t-test, and Two-way ANOVA showed the differences between these two majors. For students planning to study abroad, Japanese majors outperformed English majors on IS; for students who never planned to study abroad, English majors outperformed Japanese majors on IS. “Planning to study abroad” had a significant impact on Japanese majors' IS; however, it did not influence English majors. The results of this study provide English majors and Japanese majors with far-reaching implications. Finally, the conclusions were illustrated. The suggestions for practice and future studies were provided. |
