The main purpose of this paper was to enhance the effectiveness of“Team Teaching with Industry Experts”(TTIE) to bridge the gap between learning and application. First, we explicated the implications and implementation approaches of team teaching. Second, we illuminated the quality assurance strategies of TTIE from the perspective of relevant regulations. Finally, we reflected on a university’s practice of TTIE and then put forward suggestions for improvement. We argued that participants in team teaching should share the responsibility for curriculum planning and implementation, and negotiate appropriate implementation methods. University authorities should specify the qualifications of industry experts, suitable courses of TTIE, matters relevant to curriculum planning and implementation, as well as their review mechanisms. University authorities should also clearly define the tasks and responsibilities of different participants, and facilitate them to reflect on the process and outcomes of team teaching. Furthermore, university authorities can design tool sheets for TTIE, and improve participants’competence of TTIE. TTIE should apply diverse models in accordance with learning needs. The process of teaching should deeply reflect the elements of collaborative teaching, and ensure that its connotation can effectively enhance students’hands-on competences. |
