Purpose: The purposes of this study are: (1) to analyze the factors affecting the police misconducts at workplace; (2) to develop a theoretical mode serving as a valid explanation of the police misconducts at workplace to expand the domestic research field in the sociology of policing in Taiwan; (3) to provide a solid and valid suggestion as a reference for relative organizations to develop the innovative policies of policing. Methods: According to the complexity of precinct and the proportion of total police officers number, we conducted the stratified random sampling. There were total 500 police officers sampled from six precincts, which was about one-tenth of the parent group. All the subjects had more than one year of service at police station and still worked there. Results: As to the effect factors, the more the subject inclined to low self-control, the lower degree of resilience that the subject had; the lower degree of social control, and the higher degree of chance situation directly caused the misconducts at workplace more frequently. Among the factors, chance situation had the highest influence on the misconducts at workplace. Conclusions: The results of this study indicated that the police officers’misconducts at workplace can be better explained by a“concepts-integral”mode, which is comprised of the resiliency theory, the general theory of crime, the theory of social control, and relative chance situation theories. |
