This study assesses the impacts of work stress and job satisfaction on police officers’organizational commitment in Taiwan. Between April and July 2020, 1,419 questionnaires were collected from police officers throughout the country. The regression results show that job satisfaction is the most influential factor of the overall organizational commitment of police officers, as well as the affective commitment and normative commitment. Additionally, the clear definition of job responsibilities, the perceived impacts of pension reform, work-family conflicts, external job opportunities, and whether they are in the supervisory position are significantly related to police officers’organizational commitment. This study enriches the existing empirical research on police officers’organizational commitment and assists policymakers and police administrators in better understanding factors underlying police officers’organizational commitment. This information is useful for developing strategies to reduce officers’job stress and improve job satisfaction, thereby enhancing organizational and minimizing turnover intention. |
