George Leslie Mackay established Xindian Church on July 26, 1874. Initially, he rented Mrs. Gao Xia's storefront as a chapel. Based on detailed historical records, this article combs through the establishment process of Xindian Church, examining the first generation of baptized Xindian Christians and reconstructing the formation process of the Christian community of Xindian Church in northern Taiwan. Furthermore, it explores social, interpersonal, and marital networks within Christian communities. The article elaborates on the role played by the believers in the process of Christian dissemination, highlighting the formation and development of Xindian Christian families. It further explains issues such as interpersonal and marital relationships, along with generational inheritance among Christians. |
