With the advent of Industry 4.0, the application of technology in the catering industry has brought about significant impacts. How to address the challenges of Industry 4.0 to hospitality education has become an issue that cannot be ignored. This paper will discuss how to integrate it into existing hospitality vocational education and training, providing students with the essential skills for the future, enabling them to meet upcoming challenges. According to survey data from 87 vocational high schools nationwide with Department of Food and Beverage Management, two-thirds of the schools have not offered courses related to information technology or data analysis in their curriculum. This indicates a need for serious consideration of digital literacy in current vocational high school curricula. Additionally, by synthesizing relevant literature and the curriculum planning data of Department of Food and Beverage Management from vocational high schools in 2023, it is suggested to adjust and reinforce the courses, particularly in digital technology, STEM education, internships and practical experiences, innovation and customer experience, as well as an international perspective. This aims to enhance students' adaptability to new skills, ensuring that they possess the corresponding skills needed for the future catering industry and laying a foundation for their employment and career development. |
