Taiwan Food and Drug Administration worked with local health bureaus annually implemented food surveillance programs. For survey of heavy metals contaminated in food during 2022, a total of 616 samples were collected by local health bureaus. The heavy metal contents were analyzed based on official analytical method. The results showed 13 samples failed to comply with“Sanitation Standard for Contaminants and Toxins in Food”. Violate samples included 2 fish samples, 3 century-egg samples and 8 vegetable samples, which were subsequently recalled from the market. The overall compliance rate was 97.9%. The surveillance of heavy metals in food will be reinforced on selected sample categories based on non-complied subjects, public concerns, policy adjustments and other factors in the future. |
