China’s economic contribution to assisting Cambodia’s roads, bridges, transportation and other infrastructure is much higher valued than that of the United States’concepts of democracy, human rights, regional security, and civil society, which also led tothe subordinates of the Cambodian people and the government to China, and constructed the foreign policy dimensions of Cambodia. This article attempts to explore the foreign policy dimensions of Cambodia from the three levels of analysis of the international relations research approach, namely the individual-level analysis, the state-level analysis and the system-level analysis. On the premise of maximizing national interests, Cambodia, who is subordinate to China, believes that it is implementing a pragmatic hedging strategy, attaching itself to China in a pragmatic economic foreign policy, and maintaining interaction with the United States and ASEAN on other issues. Is Cambodia a vassal state of China, or is it just economic pragmatism of hedging? Onlytime will tell. |
