Li Ang's fiction has frequently focused on relationships between sex and domination as well as loss and power. She has also explored the erotic and the political, nightmares and nationalism, gustatory delicacies and the gourmet, tying together politics, business and Taiwanese popular culture within her exemplary narration. Her most recent fiction Love for Seven Transmigrated Lives has delved into cross-strait romances, limning the complex interactions between Taiwan and Mainland China. Through her detailing of eroticism and national identity, she probes the sensitive space of the body and political systems. This paper investigate cross-strait political and business relationships to explore how Li Ang's writing interrogates genre boundaries through sex. |
