This study attempts to research gender issue in Taiwan romance fiction and film adaptation. This thesis uses text analysis research to analyze the text meaning in both Qiong-Yao’s romance novel and 80’s romance novel, which were adapted into films. We also comparative both romance novels and films in the politics of woman’s body, which concerns sex and appearance, and try to find the constructed woman image and the meanings of gender in which one is conservative. This study will discuss Taiwanese women films in the 1960-1980s, and focus on the representation of scenes in commercial movies. It also discusses women’s consciousness in female/male director’s works and how much control a woman issue can have in a male dominated industry. |
