There are many shortcomings to using USB disks. For example, they must be used by the computer. The storage space of USB disks are usually small (much smaller than the hard disks). Moreover, USB disks are prone to chip failure and virus attack, which can easily cause data loss, and the lost data cannot be retrieved, etc. Therefore, we use the TRIZ invention problem-solving theory to solve the shortcomings of using USB disks. First, we analyze the specific problem with 39 engineering parameters, put these parameters into the contradiction matrix, and find innovative solutions to the above problems from the six invention principles obtained. According these principles, we have developed a USB disk expansion device. USB disks can read/write data through wireless network by using the USB disk expansion device. Moreover, multiple expansion devices can cooperate to establish a RAID system. We estimate the data transmission speed, price, and volume of USB disk expansion devices, comparing with traditional NAS, are more efficiently. Finally, the proposed USB disk expansion device obtained a patent from IPO R.O.C, and a gold medal award from 2020 KIDE. |
