The purpose of this study is to understand the present situation and its effect regarding the use of the Intelligent Observation App and System (IOAS) in lesson study in elementary schools. A semi-structured interview method was employed, targeting a total of 12 principals, administrators, and teachers who have used the IOAS, to gain insight into the present situation and its effect regarding the use of the IOAS in lesson study. The main research results include: (1) The current situation of using the IOAS in lesson study are generally focused on promotion and explanation, training and capacity building, activation of implementation and operation of classroom observation, and data analysis and application. (2) The main benefits of using IOAS include improving the efficiency and effectiveness of class observation and discussion, increased student engagement and orientation toward the teacher's instructions, facilitating teacher professional development, and shaping a culture of interaction and mutual learning among school staff. (3) To encourage IOAS adoption, creating a trusting and open campus culture, improving information technology infrastructure, and providing support from educational agencies are essential. (4) Challenges include poor network connectivity, teacher discomfort with digital tools and limited teacher acceptance. Based on the research results, suggestions are proposed for the effective use of the IOAS in lesson study in elementary schools. |
