The use of standards in unit design is a fundamental ability for teachers, and it is also an important indicator to ensure that the quality of national education is orientated from the standards. Historically, Taiwan’s teachers take textbooks as curriculum; therefore, it is a problematic challenge for teachers required to design units and put it in practice to fulfill the national objectives of competency-based education. The development and construction of the system of standards-based curriculum design (SSCD) are based on the problems and dilemmas that teachers may encounter while designing competency-based units and take relevant elements into consideration. SSCD is a set of small professional technical systems using the standards and consisting of five stages of operation, including: determining core knowledge, establishing learning objectives, designing learning assessments, planning learning activities, and verifying learning materials. Thereafter, the system merges, re-converges, and simplifies relevant theories and ideas into problem-solving standards, and then clarifies the relationship between elements, and establishes easy-to-understand professional modules into a set of logical modules. The operational steps in modules are then written in detailed description as specifications, allowing the teamwork between academia and industry, and a feasible ''Unit Design Academy'' intelligent interactive digital platform is thus created. |
