Regulation (EU) 2019/1381 on the transparency and sustainability of the EU risk assessment in the food chain, was formulated by the European Union In 2019 to ensure transparent, continuous and inclusive risk communication throughout the risk analysis. It also strengthens the selection of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) Management Board members and scientific experts, to ensure that a sufficient pool of experts is available to meet the needs of the Union. It is appropriate that EFSA should provide advice to a potential applicant or notifier upon request, prior to the formal submission of an application or notification. and it is necessary when business operators commission or carry out studies with a view to submitting an application or notification, they must notify those studies to EFSA. Meantime, it is important that EFSA should make sure the obligation of openness, transparency and confidentiality, ensure the accessibility of information to the public, and also protect confidential information and the intellectual property rights and investment of EU industries, and ensure the competitiveness of EU industries. |
