The news and public opinions database platform from January 1st to December 31st, 2021 was employed to conduct various news statistics in this research. The number of public opinions is dominated by drugs (75.41%), and the medical equipment and cosmetics (medical makeup) part accounts for 3.21%, of which about 1/3 of the issues was related to Covid-19 antigen test reagents. In addition, by analyzing the time-series of the number of newly confirmed cases of new coronary pneumonia in Taiwan every week, epidemic prevention policies and public opinions on rapid test reagents, it showed that the number of daily confirmed cases in mid-May (The 19th week) increased significantly. As the elevation of Alert Level to3, the number of rapid-test reagent news has also increased and reached the highest peak of the year when the Epidemic Command Center encouraged manufacturers to import the home-based rapidtest reagents in the 23rd to 25th week and issued guidelines for at-home rapid-screening tests, as well as expanded the sales of reagents in pharmacies and supermarkets, and strengthen the advocacy concerning the epidemic prevention policies and administrative action. With the adjustment and revision of the government’s anti-epidemic measures, the number of daily confirmed cases in Taiwan declined, and the number of public opinions about the rapid screening test has also subsided. Compared with vaccines, drugs or PCR screening, self-test reagents at-home are one of the most convenient and accessible antiepidemic supplies for people. Epidemic prevention policies and related actions can control the epidemic, reduce public opinions, and free the public from fear to lead a normal life as well. |
