The purpose of this research is to understand the type of expired foods in post market and to evaluate their hazard risk factors. The data of expired foods were extracted from the Product Management Distribution System (PMDS) established by Taiwan Food and Drug Administration, mainly contained the GHP field audits information conducted by the health agencies between 2016 and 2020. Violations were classified based on the food item and location. The statistic results showed that the violation of main core business were restaurants, supermarkets, grocery, bakery and convenience stores in descending order. Expired foods were mainly found in the kitchen or food processing site of the catering industry. Retail stores were more likely found expired foods on the sale shelves. In conclusion, it was extremely important to urge the food business operators to follow up Quality Assurance System and the GHP guideline on the food expiration date regulation. |
