The EU 2016 report indicated that plastics are the most widely used food contact materials for food containers and package products in modern times. This project was conducted through inspections of food utensils, food containers or packaging products that contain plastic materials on common food contact surfaces on the market, and evaluation of compliance situations according to Act Governing Food Safety and Sanitation and related regulations. From 2019 to 2020, 382 samples were examined and 79 samples of food utensils, food containers or packaging containing plastic materials on the food contact surface were tested. Among them, 13 samples (3.40%) were found non-compliance in labeling, and 1 sample (1.27%) was suspected non-compliance of sanitation standard in migration test. The noncompliant cases have been forwarded to local governments for further administrative sanction. In the future, TFDA will continue to guide and supervise the food businesses to follow the regulations, so as to protect the rights and interests of citizens. |
