Students who are gifted and from low-education backgrounds have unique ed-ucation and learning support needs, making them different from other gifted stu-dents (Peters & Engerrand, 2016; VanTassel-Baska, 2003). “Overlooked gems” is used in gifted education to describe this population (VanTassel-Baska & Stambaugh, 2007). This paper described one successful program for disadvantage high-ability students, the Investment Project of Youths (IPY) in Taiwan, and outlined 3 pillars of effective program for disadvantaged high-ability. Online questionnaire method was administered in this study to collect data. The findings suggest that participants hold a positive attitude toward the project and think it is of great help to their academic performances at school and future careers. |
