In 2020, the number of COVID-19 cases have continued to rise, which has brought lots of pressure to front-line nursing staff. As nursing supervisors, we should strengthen safety workplace, provide adequate personal protective equipment and personnel training education, so that nursing staff can stand to their posts with peace of mind. Nursing manpower management includes a wide range of aspects, among which manpower management and deployment are a major challenge. This article shares how the nursing team is facing the impact of COVID-19 pandemic in Changhua Christian Hospital (CCH), how to implement the manpower strategies, including: emergency manpower diversion planning, setting up outdoor screening and instant sample collection areas; integrating outpatient services and adjusting manpower according to the epidemic situation; starting adult Intensive Care Units service load reduction and manpower backup plan; dynamic plans of bed utilization in isolated wards and manpower arrangements; timely dispatch of auxiliary manpower and Center for Health Promotion personnel to support frontline units. Moreover, the Adult Mental Health Scale (AMHS) is used to assess the psychological stress of employees in epidemic prevention and provide individualized care, so that employees can work with peace of mind in a safe environment. The nursing supervisors have fulfilled its responsibilities, we should stand to the epidemic prevention with all employees, guard lives, and do our best for this land. |
