Emerging infectious diseases have increased rapidly in recent years, The COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 has greatly challenged the currentoperations of medical institution and their ability to fight the pandemic. The medical institution cooperated with the Joint Commission of Taiwan and the Ministry of Health and Welfare to conduct on-site inspections of hospital effectiveness and hospital surge capacity respond to pandemic preemptive preparedness. Changhua Christian Hospital (CCH) strengthened the integration of medical wards in the early stage of the pandemic, setting up a dedicated COVID-19 ward on the 9th floor near the Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) to facilitate rapid transfer to the intensive care unit in case of emergency. The Children's Hospital established a dedicated ward, and planned parent-child room sharing to meet the needs of children's care. The allocation of admission beds will be implemented for the isolation contact ward. Strengthen the use of dedicated wards and surrounding wards in the middle of the pandemic, flexibly expand hospital capacity. Since Ward 83 and Ward 93 are in the third medical building, the measures of traffic flow planning and segregating patients and staff can easily replicate. The Grace Ward and the Transitional Care Unit-5 of the Changhua Road Campus are also on the same floor, it may accelerate the efficiency of expanding the pandemic dedicated wards. In the late stage of the pandemic, adjusting the rules for patient admission and fully returning to pre-pandemic use of beds. CCH will focus on the pandemic development, maintain the excellent response mechanism to deal with the uncertainty of emerging infectious diseases, preserve the medical capacity, and ensures that patients receive proper medical services. |
