This paper reports an economics course reform which is transformed from a basic economics course to a core economics curriculum. The main difference between the reformed result, the core economics curriculum titled as Economics and Contemporary Society, and its previous version, a basic economics course, is that the reformed core economics curriculum adopts a thematic teaching which is based on problem solving. In this paper, we compare this reformed economics course with others among Taiwan's colleges, and discuss students' response from the reform. This course reform is completed under the course reform policy in Center for General Education at Chang Gung University. Meanwhile, we also introduce the course reform process of general education at Chang Gung University in the paper. |
