Vietnam has put coherent strategies for human capital development through an improved Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) system. The Mekong Delta region in Vietnam plays an important role in food security and the economy of Vietnam, however, the insufficient human resource is a challenge for the socio-economic development of the region and the efforts of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training system are still needed to better accomplish the prospects and challenges. This study not only examines the issue mentioned above by international standards but also mainly provides a better understanding of the organizational structure of higher vocational education and training colleges as a part of the Technical and Vocational Education and Training system in Vietnam and identifies issues of quality in education and training to be considered as challenges for student recruitment of vocational colleges in Can Tho Province, the central Vietnam Mekong Delta Region. Data is drawn principally from relevant academic literature, vocational education research papers, and government documents. The study contributes to explore the potential and limitation of the organizational structure of higher vocational education and training colleges and to seek internal as well as external factors affecting student enrollment of higher vocational education colleges. Hence, the challenges could be dealt with. |
