"Yi-Yang Weekly, founded by Yang Kui in Taichung on September 1st, 1945, is the first magazine published in Taiwan after World War II. Without speaking, it occupies an important position in the history of Taiwan's publication. Due to the first issue of the magazine released on a political interregnum between the surrender of Japan and the handover of Taiwan to China, its content obviously reflected Yang Kui's political opinion on the vicissitude of politics. After the defeat of the political movement held by his Liberation Committee, Yang Kui promoted the thoughts of Sun Wen and the Three Principles of the People through Yi-Yang Weekly, in order to enlighten Taiwanese people on political issues. Furthermore, he also intended to make an ideal plan for Taiwan after World War II by means of this magazine. In his whole life, Yang Kui did not see the arrival of the world constructed according to the Three Principles of the People, a beautiful world longed for by him. Nevertheless, given that Yang Kui's Yi-Yang Weekly marked the welcoming of Taiwanese people for China during the early days after World War II and their expectation for a society of democracy and wealth, it indeed expressed the spirit of Taiwan people during this political transition. In this regard, Yang Kui's Yi-Yang Weekly has its significance. " |
