"Since several years ago, curriculum mapping had been prevailed in higher education in Taiwan. In basic education level, new curriculum guideline was put into practice from 2019. The aim of this article is to consider the application of curriculum mapping in 12-year basic education, by thinking of experiences from higher education and curriculum mapping theories. For this purpose, first, the background of practicing curriculum mapping in higher education and its outcome are described. Second, by drawing from higher education experiences and curriculum mapping literature, the developmental directions of curriculum mapping in basic education are delineated. Third, from the aspect of implementation in 12-year basic education, four suggestions are raised concerning curriculum mapping practices. These suggestions are: connecting curriculum mapping with teacher’s professional development, designing integrated curriculum or teaching educational issues by curriculum mapping, mapping curriculum for a classroom or an individual student, developing school-based curriculum by the process of curriculum mapping." |
