"The prevalence and development of information technology facilitates the change of computer curriculum content and implementation all over the world, particularly at the k to 12 stage. In Taiwan, the new curriculum guidelines on computer and technology education was released in 2019. This article reports on the issues of promoting new computer curriculum after analyzing cases of various countries. First, the trend of independent courses and increasing content is confirmed although diverse levels of needs and identities in different countries. Second, the number of qualified computer teachers is not sufficient. Therefore, developing the computer pedagogical content knowledge of teachers is an important task. In the end, suggestions including promotion of the new curriculum guidelines on computer and technology education, increase of research on computer curriculum and instruction, and professional development of computer teachers are proposed." |
