"Postprandial hyperglycemia has been demonstrated to cause arterial stiffening and subsequent risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Additionally, aerobic exercise's beneficial effect was recently shown to attenuate the increase in postprandial arterial stiffness and endothelial function impairment. Therefore, finding effective aerobic exercise engagement to reduce vascular function's adverse effects becomes an indispensable challenge for healthy populations and CVD patients. We reviewed the most recent literature in these regards and aimed to discover effective aerobic exercise prescriptions in preventing the arterial stiffening induced by postprandial hyperglycemia. After a systematic review, a long duration (30-60min) or brief bouts (30min per day) of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise may improve postprandial arterial stiffness. In addition, it seems more suitable for CVD patients to suppress postprandial hyperglycemia by post-meal exercise." |
