The purpose of this study was the application of Orem's self-caring theory in caring for a patient sufferingfrom cerebral hemorrhage. The nursing problems in this case were as follows: 1. increased intracranialcerebral pressure; 2. impaired physical maintenance inducing poor self-care; 3. anxiety; The study applied inOrem's theory to the nursing system. These concepts provided all kinds of nursing implementation. Theseincluded: health-education action to avoid increased intracranial cerebral pressure, teaching step-by-step actionsand rehabilitation skills, providing a safe-environment, understanding the dangers of falling and helpingguide the patient and his family through every therapeutic and rehabilitative activity, The patient's family supportsystem was employed to face and sort out the problems. This proved to be helpful in promoting self-care.The writer hoped the experience gained will be helpful for nurses in their clinical practices. |
