During the 52 years of Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council development, derived from Taiwan Provincial Legislature, Taiwan Provincial Interim Assembly and Taiwan Provincial Assembly, there are more than 500 councilmen have spoken for people and made suggestions on current affairs in the assembly hall. The archives and historiography of this period recorded the aspects of the political and economic development in Taiwan for a half century. Using the hardware and software facilities inherited from Taiwan Provincial Assembly Memorial Park, Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council has been cooperating with the Institute of Taiwan History on Taiwan e-learning and Digital Archives Program since 2004 and digitized all public reports, administrative documents, meeting minutes and videos of council debates of Taiwan Provincial Assembly. To increase accessibility, the program began to develop index system of the digital archives with National Taiwan University in 2008. At the same year, The Assembly Hall, Chao-chin Memorial Hall and Assemblyman Hotels of Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council were announced as historic sites by Taichung county government. In order to legally preserve and maintain these historic buildings, Taiwan Provincial Consultative Council commissioned the research team of China University of Technology to make a professional preservation and maintenance proposal as the future restoration and management guideline. Through years of effort, the rich cultural assets such as local autonomy data and historic buildings in Taiwan provincial Assembly Memorial Park have been reserved properly. In order to make the best use of these valuable cultural assets, we will continue to absorb and adopt new knowledge for innovative and better use of the space. |
